37 stores in this directory sell Chanukah menorahs. Most are general Judaica shops; a smaller group are artists and designers selling their own work. Every listing links to the store's own site, and each fact on it comes from a dated source.
What makes a menorah kosher
A menorah needs eight lights plus a shamash set apart from the rest. The eight should stand in a straight line, not a semicircle, and be level or on an even slant, with no light randomly higher than another.[1] Leave enough space between them that the flames don't merge into one blaze; Halachipedia gives about an etzbah (roughly 2 cm).[2] Sculptural designs with curved arms or staggered heights can be lovely art. Ask your rav before making one your family's menorah.
Oil or candles, silver or brass
Wax candles and oil are both valid. Oil is preferable, and olive oil is the ideal fuel, because it recalls the miracle of Chanukah.[1] Many silver and brass menorahs take glass oil cups or inserts. Ask whether the model you like does, and whether the cups are included.
On material, Halachipedia lists gold, then silver, then polished copper as ways of beautifying the mitzvah,[2] and Chabad.org suggests a silver menorah if at all possible.[1] Silver is a beautification, not a requirement. Brass, glass and other materials are fine, especially for a child's first menorah.
Which kind of store
- General Judaica retailers offer the widest range: children's menorahs, travel menorahs, oil cups, wicks and candles.
- Artists and designers sell their own pieces. Go here for an heirloom or a wedding gift, and expect fewer choices and longer lead times.
- Personalized gifts: use the Engraving and Personalization filters, then confirm details with the store.
Questions to ask the store
- Is it sterling silver, silver-plated, or another metal?
- Are all eight lights level (or on an even slant) and in one row, with the shamash clearly apart?
- Does it take oil, candles, or both? Are oil cups sold separately?
- What is your order cutoff for delivery before Chanukah, and your return policy?
When to order
Chanukah 2026 begins at sundown on Friday, December 4.[3] That is early, so aim to order engraved, handmade or shipped menorahs by mid-November, and allow extra time for international shipping. Ask each store for its own cutoff.
