About shopping in Brooklyn, NY

This page lists Judaica, seforim and STaM (sofrus) businesses in Brooklyn and their storefronts. Each listing links to the sources behind it and shows the date its details were last checked.

Stores in this directory are concentrated in four neighborhoods:

  • Boro Park. Boro Park has the most listings, many of them on 13th Avenue, with more on 14th Avenue and the side streets around 38th and 39th Streets, where a sukkah manufacturer, a sukkah seller, a Jewish book publisher and a Judaica and seforim store are listed.
  • Flatbush and Midwood. Most of these stores are on Coney Island Avenue, with others on Avenue J, Avenue M and Kings Highway.
  • Crown Heights. The listings cluster on Kingston Avenue, in the neighborhood of 770 Eastern Parkway, the world headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.[1] One seforim store is on Empire Boulevard.
  • Williamsburg. Stores here are on Lee Avenue, Bedford Avenue, Wallabout Street and Taylor Street.

The mix covers silver and gift shops, seforim and book stores, sofrim selling and checking mezuzos and tefillin, yarmulke makers that also sell tallitot, and sukkah suppliers. The directory also lists a rare-books auction house in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and a Marine Park bookstore that works largely by appointment.

The directory does not list hours unless a store publishes them, so check with the store before you go, especially in the busy weeks before Yom Tov.
